Sterile Processing Tech will Perform and participate in the decontamination, inspection, cleaning assembling and packaging of medical/surgical material to include, but not limited to, instruments and equipment according to established standards and procedures to ensure a sterile and functioning supply of materials. They will prepare trays according to prescribed procedures, disassemble, clean, assemble and test instrumentation for proper functioning, and operate steam sterilization. The Sterile Processing Tech performs simple maintenance on equipment by use of the Bowie-Dick test packs, cleaning of filters and drains and use of biological test packs. They will maintain inventory of supplies and materials to include documenting usage, issuing, receiving and recording as assigned. They will perform multiple tasks that assist in the daily operation of all units as well as being responsible for customer service. The Tech serves as a liaison between OR manager (or Department Head) and third-party vendors for equipment/supply acquisition and the maintenance of existing equipment.
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- 1-3 years of Sterile Processing experience.
- Certification from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or Certification from IAHCSMM as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) required.
