Job Summary/Purpose:

The Certified/Registered Medical Assistant (CMA) performs delegated patient care tasks for an assigned patient population. They will perform clinical tasks as well as administrative duties assigned by the Clinical Resource Leader or the Clinic Manager to facilitate the care of patients. The Certified/Registered Medical Assistant performs all responsibilities in accordance with all policy and procedure guidelines. They will function under the direct supervision of the Medical Oncologist, Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for patient care activities. Their assignments, evaluations and reporting structure is to the Clinic-Clinical Resource Leader or Clinic Manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant

  • CPR Certified

  • Minimum two years medical/surgical or oncology experience preferred

  • EHR/Computer skills required

  • Previous office experience desirable

Essential Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform light to heavy work, which includes frequent lifting and positioning of patients.For greater than 35 pounds, it is expected that they request assistance from a co-worker for lifting and transferring.

  • Ability to stand/walk 6 to 8 hours per shift.

  • Ability to frequently bend, twist, reach, stoop and occasionally to kneel and squat.

  • Ability to perform various repetitive tasks i.e. simple grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation (keyboard).

  • Good visual acuity is required for patient vital signs, medical administration and documentation of care.

  • Good hearing is essential for accurate patient vital signs.

  • Employees within this job classification will have exposure to blood borne pathogens or other potentially infectious materials, and/or hazardous chemicals/waste.
