Job Description:

Lead Medical Technologist

Schedule: Monday- Friday, 8:00am- 4:30pm

Performs a variety of tests in the Transfusion Services with speed and accuracy. Must understand the theory behind the testing to assist in decision-making. Assists with review of daily workload, QC and maintenance logs. Able to train stakeholders and students, access competencies, troubleshoot issues and other duties as assigned. Provides support for the Stem Cell/DLI program.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of  Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology
  • Or Medical Technologist certification and 2 years clinical hospital experience
  • Must have a strong hospital Transfusion Services background with a minimum of 3 years experience
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office

Essential Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform light/medium work, which includes lifting up to 30 pounds
  • Ability to be mobile 6-8 hours per shift
  • Occasionally must bend, twist, squat, climb, reach, stoop, and kneel
  • Ability to perform fine manipulation (keyboard) simple grasping, pushing and pulling
  • Good visual acuity is required to read manuals, log sheets and VDT screens
  • Good color differentiation is essential to assess specimen color, turbidity, etc. and also to interpret lab test results
  • All employees within this job classification may have exposure to blood-borne pathogens, other potentially infectious materials, and/or hazardous chemicals/waste
