Job Description:

The Manager, Clinical Research is responsible for the oversight of all research nurses, research coordinators and data coordinators. This position assists and oversees the compliance of policies and procedures, SOPs, SWIs and FDA regulations as they pertain to research.  This position is required to maintain a standard of excellence and remain knowledgeable about operational changes within the hospital and CTCA Clinical Research, Inc. This position is required to ensure all clinical trials for Chicago, CCRC are followed and managed appropriately for proper billing and invoicing to ensure maximum revenue for the department.

Skills, Education and Additional Information

Education - the ideal candidate will require:

  • Bachelor's degree in a healthcare or business-related field with healthcare experience (Business Administration, Health Care Administration, clinical field (science, health, medicine, pharmacy, nursing), OR equivalent experience

Experience - the ideal candidate will:


  • Minimum of 2 years of research experience

  • Certification through SoCRA, ACRP, or other reputable entity within 3 years of employment

  • Human Subjects Protection training/certification within 30 days of employment

  • Basic Oncology class within 1 year of employment (if necessary)


  • Nursing degree

  • 3+ years of research experience

  • 3+ years of clinical oncology experience

  • Certification through Society of Clinical Research Associates, Association of Clinical Research Professionals, or other reputable entity

Other - the ideal candidate will have the ability to:

  • Effectively manage complex projects with evolving timelines, and people of varying levels of work experience and training

  • Proactively evaluate and resolve complex problems and follow-through

  • Have strong communication and presentation skills

  • Superior written and verbal communications skills

  • Ability to relay vision/strong sense of department organization, processes, and change to management and staff

  • Leading a rapidly changing organization and integrating new personnel is essential

  • Results-oriented and a team player with strong interpersonal and communications skills, capable of working collaboratively with colleagues

  • Demonstrated success in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to work independently and with teams in an entrepreneurial environment

  • Manage multiple operational projects concurrently

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
