Job Description:

Job Summary:

The Nurse Manager serves as a member of the patient care leadership team that is responsible to inspire and guide clinical stakeholders.  The Nurse Manager manages the day-to-day clinical operations on each shift across the care continuum with regard to patient care management, resource management and clinical outcomes. The Nurse Manager is responsible for a set group of stakeholders to oversee direct care, mentor and guide stakeholders for achievement of excellence. The position Collaborates with Patient Care Services Directors for the hands-on implementation and the " S - A" of the PDSA cycle.  Ensures staff competency, provides real time performance feedback to mentor staff growth. Provides for real time education of staff and promotes teamwork concepts within staff. 

Guides stakeholders in the provision of care and quality outcomes.   Manages daily operational issues.  Utilizes effective communication to support a culture of caring and healing in which the patient and family are the central focus

Supports clinical excellence, enterprise-wide initiatives, activities of the leadership team, departments, clinics, physicians and administration.

Acts in compliance with enterprise policies/procedures and the Nurse Practice Act of the State. 

Follows the enterprise nursing philosophy and the Empowered for Excellence (E2) nursing professional practice model which are derived from the Benner model and Jean Watson’s Theory of Caring.   

Serves as a role model for professional clinical care delivery of patient care for all age groups.


Minimum Requirements:

Graduate of NLNAC or CCNE School of Nursing, and licensed in the state of practice

Bachelor’s Degree in nursing required, Master of Science in Nursing with Clinical Nurse Leader certification preferred

Current IL RN License

Current ACLS & BLS         ??           

Minimum of five years continuous relevant clinical experience within the acute care setting.
