Job Summary:

The Specialist, Bill Integrity role is responsible for the coordination and completion of pre-claim review, corporate wide edits and/or denials to safeguard cash flow and minimize impact on accounts receivable. The Specialist has a direct impact on financial and operational goals through timely resolution of pre-claim review and edit resolution and Medicare denial resolution; ensuring claims are submitting timely. The role is responsible for reducing impact to accounts receivables by discovering errors and implementing improvements which will result in reducing turnaround time for claims submission.

The Specialist will assist the Supervisor, Bill Integrity in discovering discrepancies impacting revenue through reporting analytics by analyzing and documenting trended information. The Associate Specialist will create and implement best practice techniques and processes to drive departmental innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.

This role will report directly to Supervisor, Bill Integrity and assists Director with findings and opportunities for improvement. This role will serve as a resource for Patient Accounts, Medical Records, Finance, Compliance and Revenue Producing Departments in regards to any issues or Bill Integrity questions.


  • Must be a minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing with strong analytical skills. Baccalaureate Degree Preferred.
  • Active Nursing License Required.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in working with medical records and hospital claims filing, processing and/or collection
  • Basic understanding of insurance applications
  • Basic understanding of risk concepts including risk identification, evaluation, mitigation and measurement
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Organized and efficient in prioritizing and managing workload with minimal oversight
  • Must be familiar with Lean Six Sigma and SMART goal techniques
