Job Description:

Hours: Mon - Fri 8am - 4:30pm

A registered, licensed Occupational Therapist that delivers individualized comprehensive care to patients through rehabilitation department utilizing therapeutic use of self, innovative technology and collaboration among patients. Is responsible and accountable for providing, delegating and guiding patient care to achieve an optimum level of function for each patient through treatment, education and direction of progressive exercise and activity.

Conducts educational in-service on benefits of occupational therapy to patients/families, other disciplines (hospital staff), and to the community.  Non-patient related duties includes, but is not limited to, assisting in clerical duties of the department, posting charges, & light housekeeping duties within the Rehabilitation Department. Works under the general and direct supervision of the director of rehabilitation services department.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a graduate from an AOTA approved school of Occupational therapy or a  school approved by the World Congress of Occupational therapy and must have passed the national certification examination
  • Current Illinois state license in occupational therapy
  • 1 yr OT experience
  • CPR certification preferred

Essential Physical Requirements:

  • Job is light to heavy work, which includes frequent lifting and positioning of patients.  For greater than 50 pounds, it may be expected that the therapist will request for assistance from a co-worker for lifting or positioning.
  • Ability to stand/walk 6 to 8 hours per shift.
  • Ability to frequently bend, twist, reach, stoop & occasionally to kneel and squat.
  • Ability to prepare equipment and perform various repetitive talks i.e. simple grasping, pulling and fine manipulation (keyboard).
  • Good visual acuity is required for patient’s assessment and documentation of care.
  • Good hearing is essential for accurate patient assessment.
  • All employees in this job classification may have exposure to blood borne pathogens or other potentially infectious materials.
